Geddington Kites have played in an eight a side competitive hardball league for the last three seasons. This league is run by Northants. Recreational County Cricket. The league is made up of up to 10 sides who play either home or away with a play off at the end of the season.
Matches are played on a Wednesday evening, generally last about a couple of hours and follow more conventional hardball cricket rules. Equipment is provided for those that don’t have their own.
All Kite members are eligible to put themselves forward for selection. The Kites generally field a team of four more experienced cricketers and four less experienced. The emphasis is still on fun and enjoyment with the competitive element adding to this.
The Kites are current League Champions and are defending the title this season.

Regular Season
You will see that there are 7 consecutive weeks of fixtures (5th May thru 16th June), where each team will play each other once – these will form the ‘regular season’ games. At the end of this 7-week block, there will be a week off (23rd June).
Play-Offs & Finals
After this week off, teams in the top four will form Group 1 and teams in the bottom four will form Group 2. We will have Group 1 fixtures as follows: 1st v 4th; 2nd v 3rd & Group 2 fixtures: 5th v 8th; 6th v 7th on Wednesday 30th June (Play-offs). The winners of each of these fixtures will then play each other the week after on Wednesday 7th July (Finals) which will draw the 2021 WML to a close. Obviously as these fixtures are dependent on the table standings at close of play on Wednesday 16th June, the fixtures are not on play-cricket yet. So, please ensure you note the dates mentioned above in your calendars for these other 2 fixtures.
End of Season Presentation
We will then have a regular season 1st placed team; a winner of Group 1 and a winner of Group 2 amongst other accolades which will be awarded during an end of season presentation – details are still to be confirmed but this is likely to be held on Wednesday 21st July.
